Del Mar National Dressage Show, Del Mar, CA, April 23-26, 2009

Leah and Winnica won three third level classes and earned the high point and reserve high point third level amateur titles on Friday. Leah has recently purchased a super 10 year old Dutch mare, Sarrington S, who will be trained to Prix St. Georges by Donna. Leah has reluctantly decided to sell Winnie to make room for the new addition. Winnie is very reasonably priced and is ready to take another amateur to her bronze medal. Leah and Winnie are already qualified for CDS and USDF Championships at third level. Also stabling with Donna at Del Mar were Jenny Madden, Jil Schrieber, and the San Juan Capistrano professional Sandra Hansen. Jenny did her first freestyle (choreographed by Donna) on Ubelesk in the daunting main arena -- and won a lovely championship ribbon, cooler, and plate. Her mother Jil was also successful on Radetsky at second level, while Sandra showed Radetsky in the open third level classes. Talk about competiton: third level open was like the Olympics with two horses ridden by Steffan Peters and one each by Guenter Seidel and Leslie Webb. Just getting a ribbon, which Sandra and "Rex" did do was quite an achievement.
